Sunrise from Coliseum Mtn, part-way through an amazing 20 hour journey that started last night from Cleveland Dam.

Up BCMC to the summit of Grouse, to Dam Mtn and Lil Goat, Crown Pass down Hanes Valley to Norvan Falls, up Coliseum to the peak and on to Mt Paton, down and along Seymour River, up to Vicar Lakes and along ridge all the way to Seymour to the peak, on to Second Peak, Mystery Lake and out at the parking lot - some 4,500 metres of gain over ~45 km.

Crazier still, Matt, Alexa, and Ken then continued on to Deep Cove, all while having started yesterday AM from Porteau Cove and doing the HSCT to Cypress and running down to pick me up at the Dam. I need to save it for Wonderland Trail next week, but HUGE props to them for being the first to complete the Cove to Cove Backcountry Run! (at Coliseum Mountain)

Faster Technical Descents with (Down) Hill Repeats

They say you should play to your strengths and forget about working on your weaknesses. If I could race only uphill or on less-technical downhill terrain, I might follow this advice. I’m tired of getting passed on the really technical stuff though, so I decided to seek some advice from one of the fastest downhillers that I know.

I’ve had the pleasure of doing a bit of training with local…
